Apr 30: Grades for HW 8 are available through courseworx
Apr 30: PLEASE VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE CORRECT SCORES FOR ALL YOUR SUBMISSIONS IN THE COURSEWORX. IF THIS IS NOT THE CASE, CONTACT THE TA IMMEDIATELY.
Apr 30: Project 2 grades have been posted on the CourseWorx
Apr 25: Sample questions for the final exam are available here. For Problems 2, 15, and 28 you need to read about displays from the textbook. For Problem 24 you need to read about parameter passing mechanisms in the textbook. You can disregard Problems 9, 12, 20, and 25.
Apr 24
: The final exam will be in our regularly scheduled classroom, on Thursday, May 1, from 10:00 to noon.
Apr 22: Material covered in the lectures on Object Oriented Programming is included in the syllabus for the final exam. Material covered in the lectures on Logical and Concurrent programming would NOT be included in the final exam, but it is recommended for a more comprehensive understanding of the subject.
Apr 21: Grades of HW 6 and HW 7 are available through courseworx
Apr 19: HW 8 has been assigned. Its due on Apr 23 at 11:59 pm.
Apr 16:  Grades for Project 1 have been updated in the CourseWorx. There is a 10 point deduction if your output does not match bit-by-bit to the output produced by rpal. For project 2, make sure that your output matches EXACTLY bit-by-bit to the output produced by rpal..
Apr 12: HW 7 has been assigned. Its due on Apr 18 at 11:59 pm.
Apr 11: In case CourseWorx does not work, please email the assignments to the TA before the deadline.
Apr 10: Use the unix command 'diff' to match your output with that of provided rpal compiler. This would be used while grading and hence it is essential that you use diff for output verification.
Apr 10: Graded answer sheets for Midterm 1 can be collected from the TA during the office hours.
Apr 04: HW 6 has been assigned. Its due on Apr 11 at 11:59 pm.
Apr 04: Midterm 1 grades are available through the CourseWorx. Answer sheets would be returned soon.
Mar 24: Project 2 has been assigned. Its due on Apr 23 at 11:59 pm.
Mar 20
: Midterm 1 will be held during the normal class hours on March 21st 2008 i.e. period 7 in CSE 107.
Mar 19: Grades of HW 4 and HW 5 are available through courseworx. Please take note of the following:
    1. Point distribution for HW 4 questions was 10,20,10,20,20 & 20 respectively.
    2. If you have any questions about deductions, refer to the comments available through courseworx. Incase you are unable to see these comments, email the TA or see him during his office hours. You must have a look at the solution before contacting the TA.
Mar 18: The due date for the first project has been changed to March 21st 2008, at 11:59 p.m. .
Mar 18: Include a README file in your project submission indicating details of your team.
Mar 17: TA office scheduled on Monday (March 17th)  will instead be held on Thursday during the same hours.
Mar 11: The scheduled date for the first midterm has been changed to March 21st 2008. A set of sample midterm questions and their solutions is provided here.
Mar 06: Solution for HW 4 has been posted on the homeworks webpage.
Mar 04: The first COP5555 midterm would take place on March 19th 2008.
Mar 03: Grades for HW 3 are available through courseworx. Solution has been posted on the homeworks webpage.
Mar 03: The 0 score awarded to students who submitted the HW 2 in wrong file format has been changed to a non-zero (actual) score. Please make sure that you submit your HWs in the JAR file format.
Mar 03: HW 5 has been assigned. Its due on Mar  7 at 11:59 pm.
Feb 22: It is OK to use regex classes in Java.
Feb 22: Deadline for HW 4 has been extended by 3 days to Mar 3 at 11:59 pm.
Feb 25: Students who made HW 2 and HW 3 submissions in wrong file format and received a score of 0 on HW 2, would not be penalized again for HW 3. Note that this exception in only being made for students who received a 0 becuase of wrong file format on HW 2. From HW 4 onwards, no exception would be made in this regard and any submission in a wrong file format would attract a score of 0.
Feb 22: Deadline for HW 4 has been extended by one week to Feb 29 at 11:59 pm.
Feb 21: Grades of HW 2 are available through courseworx. Please take note of the following:
    1. Point distribution for the questions a,b,c,e,d & f was 15,17,17,17,17 & 17 respectively.
    2. If you have any questions about deductions, refer to the comments available through courseworx. Incase you are unable to see these comments, email the TA or see him during his office hours. You must have a look at the solution before contacting the TA.
    3. In accordance with the announced policy (Feb 08), any submission in a file format other than that indicated on the homework page, has been awarded a score of 0.
Feb 19: TA office will be held in E331 from now on.
Feb 16: Project 1 has been assigned. Its due on Mar 19 at 11:59 pm.
Feb 16: HW 4 has been assigned. Its due on Feb 22 at 11:59 pm.
Feb 11
: Any submission after the deadline would lead to a score of 0 on that assignment.
Feb 08
: Grades for HW 1 are available through courseworx. Please take note of the following:
    1. Solution to HW 1 has been posted on homework page.
    2. If you have any questions about deductions, refer to the comments available through courseworx. Incase you are unable to see these comments, email the TA or see him during his office hours. You must have a look at the solution before contacting the TA.
    3. From HW 2 onwards, no submission via email would be accepted.
    4. Submission in any file format other than the one indicated on the Homework page would lead to a score of 0.
Feb 08: HW 3 has been assigned. Its due on Feb 15 at 11:59 pm.

: A minor change has been made to problem 1 grammar, please take note of it. The current version of HW 2 includes the modification.
Feb 02: While using CourseWorX, make sure that you register the first time you log in. You would not be able to upload assignments unless you register.

: HW 2 has been assigned. Its due on Feb 8 at 11:59 pm.
Jan 31:
CourseWorX should be working properly now, incase you have emailed the assignment, try uploading it through the CourseWorx again. In case it does not work, you don't have the email the assignment again but if it does work, let me know to ignore your emailed version.

For distance learning students the assignment deadline is going to be the Monday following the announced deadline.

Jan 08: Effective tomorrow (Wednesday Jan 9) the classroom for COP-5555 Programming Language Principles has been changed, from NEB 201 to CSE 107.
