To be held on January 28,2008.Venue: Touchdown Terrace at 6 pm.

We will be switching to ASCIE mailing list soon.Everybody on gradlist will be added.
Option for opting out individually available.
Please form groups or make decisions about the area(s) for giving exams.Form groups and use
ASCIE forum for activating the exam goroups. Successful students are requested to participate in
Qualifier Exam polls for giving an idea to aspirants about level of effort required.
Help required from those who have contacts in firms.Volunteers needed for planning and managing
the workshop.Jan28,2008 is the day for the same.
Subject polls are available.Please participate for helping new and fellow students to decide and pick
subjects for preparing their schedules.
Polls for qualfiying exams are also available for participation.
Members voted for Papa Jones pizza in future meetings.

November 19, 2007: General Body Meeting
All graduate students will be added to the ASCIE mailing list.
There will be an option for an individual to unsubscribe from the list.
Volunteers needed to form the.Duties include Advertising,
Booking CatererWorking with company representatives,organizing info sessions,
interviews and panel discussions.Interested can contact any one of the below:

Jan 4,2008 (12:45- 1:30pm) is the date set by the department for ASCIE to hold orientation
program.Q/A round will commence from 1:30pm till 2pm.See minutes of meeting for details

Andres will give us an update of the events occurring with GSC including updates
on the graduate student bill of rights and bullying.

Koushik gave updates about various BEC things.However, they were of little relevance to ASCIE in general.
Members have decided to order vegetarian pizza for ASCIE meetings.
75% people voted in favour of the decision.
November 11, 2007: International Potluck Festival
People participated in fair number and took part in the contest to show thier enthusiasm.
ASCIE arranged for refreshments and desserts.See pictures in the Photo Section.
Prizes were given away to the first and second position winners.
November 05, 2007: General Body Meeting
November 1, 2007: Getting a Job in Academia Seminar.
Dr. Sahni, Dr. Vemuri and Dr. My Thai answered questions and
provided insight on how to obtain a faculty position and other related
topics. The seminar was attended by decent number of students.
Questions asked ranged from preparing applications, choosing right universities,
and experience in research ,teaching and industry.
October 25, 2007 : I.A.B Meeting.
October 23, 2007 : 1st CISE Career Workshop.
ASCIE successfully conducts first ever CISE Career Workshop.
Fifteen reputed companies showed their interest in the fair
Big companies like Morgan Stanley,CISCO,Harris showed in the fair.
Students feedback praised the fair.Around three hundred students turned up.
The workshop started at 6 PM at Touchdown Terrance.(Stephen O'Connell)

October 22, 2007 : ASCIE General Body Meeting & Citrix Info Session.
The meeting mainly centered on planning for CISE Career Workshop.
Major time was spent on looking for volunteers for the event.
After the conclusion of the meeting followed an hour long information session
by Citrix.

September 06, 2007 : First Monthly Social.
ASCIE conducts first monthly social of this season.
Cooper monkey,at University Avenue, was decided for get together.
August 24, 2007 : CoE New Student Welcome.
ASCIE members attended the College of Engineering New Student Welcome
on Aug. 24th as representatives of CISE. It was a very successful event!
ASCIE provided interesting demos of research being conducted in the department.
It generated a lot of interest! Thank You to everyone who participated! Great Job!

August 14, 2007 : New Student Orientation.
A record, one hundred and thirty from various part of the world, registered
and attended the program.
Announcement for Free T-Shirt distribution was made.
The session lasted for two hours.Drinks and pizza were arranged by ASCIE.

ASCIE has volunteered to send at least six people from CISE to the
the fair. Students if interested can volunteer. A good demo is preferable.
Announcements regarding info sessions by Citrix and Ultimate Software
were made in the meeting
Last time T-Shirt selected by ASCIE members through voting

by Fei, after a voting tie.The tie was resolved by the secret
voting by ASCIE officers.
