The t-shirt design has been selected!  The winners are Salam Daher for the design and Ashish Myles for the slogan. The t-shirts were printed and distributed to new graduate students at the New Student Orientation.  The t-shirts will be available for purchase soon!  The t-shirt design can be seen here: design and slogan.

9/11/06 Meeting Minutes Updated

The much-awaited CISE T-shirts are finally up for sale! They are 8.00 per shirt for students and staff ($15 for Faculty). We will be selling them everyday from 2-5 pm in CSE 301. We have a limited number to sell, so hurry up and get yours soon!

Dr. Sahni, Dr. Chris Jermaine and Dr. My Tra Thai will be hosting a seminar on jobs in academia. Among other things, this seminar hopes to provide information to graduate students about
  - the kind of publications they need,
  - how to prepare a good application,
  - how to present your work during the interview,
  - what a recruiting university/department looks for,
  - grants and tenure

What  : "Jobs in Academia" seminar by CISE Faculty members (ASCIE meeting)
When  : TUESDAY, October 31st, 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

10/31/06: General Body Meeting and Seminar

ASCIE’s First Social!

The Tanglewood common room has excellent recreational facilities such as a pool table, a foosball table, a DVD and music system, a ping pong table, etc.

We will have lots of games to play and PRIZES to win. To make this even more fun, we are going to hold a pot luck contest! The winner gets a GRAND PRIZE: A Visa Gift Card (Valued between $50-$75!!!)  Second and Third Place Prizes: Wireless Mouse and 512Mb Flash Drive!  In addition to these, we have other small gifts to give away for the potluck contest and other games!

ASCIE will provide snacks, soda and a desert item.

If you need a ride, there's a sign-up sheet in CSE 301, or you can also sign-up on the ASCIE wiki at http://www.cise.ufl.edu/~spd/GSA/doku.php?id=socials. If you have some space in your car, and can offer a ride to someone, there's a SEPARATE sign-up sheet for you in CSE 301 as well as online on the wiki.
