Printing from a PC

The examples below are for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Windows 95 and Windows 98 require the IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) tool.

You must be logged on to the Internet before attempting to connect to a printer.

From the Start Menu, Select Settings, Printers.

This pops up the Add Printer Wizard. Select the Next button.

In the next window, select Network Printer and Next.

Select Connect to a printer on the Internet. Enter the URL for the printer. For example, to print to the printer named ps314, enter the URL: https://ash.cise.ufl.edu/printers/xtl-ps314.

Click Next, and it will pop up a security warning. Click Yes to continue.

You are then prompted for your CISE username and password:

Install the printer driver locally for the printer selected. You may be prompted for your Windows 2000 or XP setup CD.

Once the driver is installed, you are done. Just click Finish and the printer will then be available for use.
