Comments: this telnet client sucks like a bilge pump. The only nice thing I can say about it is that it's already installed on most computers. It is a bare bones client and its vt100 emulation is lousy--it doesn't even refresh the screen properly when used with a full screen editor.

Comments: this is a nice, freely redistributable telnet client (and terminal program). It's reasonably full featured and appears to have rock-solid vt100 emulation. In addition, it supports an "emacs mode"--i.e., one that lets you use the Alt key as the Meta key. If you are taking one of my classes, you may want to check out How to Install Tera Term Pro: A Guide for Dave's Students, which contains a link to a version pre-configured for use on grove. If you use CISE machines, I strongly recommend that you also download the SSH (secure shell) add-on package called TTSSH--which is also free.

Comments: This is a very nice telnet client (and terminal program) with lots of extra features--it's definitely worth the asking price. You can download a 30-day evaluation copy from the company website. Its vt100 emulation is rock-solid and it supports an "emacs mode"--i.e., one that lets you use the Alt key as the Meta key.
